UNIQUE 3 BIOGRAPHY - Guy Ornadel / AVL Press Office.

A couple of years ago four guys from Bradford got together to create a tune called "The Theme". They pressed up copies and put it out on their own label and the result was they were snapped up by TEN Records.

Unique 3 are Edzy, Cutz, JMP and Deadly D, between them they make music which can be described as surreal; music that would not be out of place accompanying the most futuristic of sci-fi movies. "The Theme" stood out for its originality, it was bleep music on a higher level leaving all the would be contenders at the starting block. It became an anthem for clubs, a night at a rave was not complete without "The Theme".1990; Unique 3 have since had a Top 20 hit with the excellent double A side "Musical Melody/Weight For The Bass". As a result they had to do the obligatory Top Of The Pops and pushed the four to the fore, something they had not anticipated and something they are not in a hurry to do again. The Unique 3 are four perceptive guys from Bradford making music that comes from within them, which they make to absorb people on the dance floor

Bradford may not be everyone's idea of the epicentre for dance music but Unique 3 have now firmly established the fact that there is a serious movement in the North. Making Top Of The Pops to them only meant harm. Coming overground as we all know means a serious loss of credibility, the die hard DJ's drop "commercial" cuts as soon as they are exposed and not surprisingly Unique 3 are a little worried about becoming commercial. Listen to the forthcoming debut album "Jus Unique" and you'll understand where they are coming from.After listening to the Unique 3 it's too obvious to describe the music as just house music, sure the bleeps are there but there are few records that exist in bleepsville that use bass to such devastating effect. The LP fuses house, hip hop and ragga all with a touch of surrealism that only the Unique 3 can achieve. Edzy, Cutz, JMP and Deadly D - the Unique 3, many will try to imitate their sound but no-one will be able to get it under your skin and feet like they can. This is the sound of the North - the rest of the world had better listen.
